MEET KARIN

OWNER OF ISKA DESIGN

Karin Ward, founder of ISKA design, is a Swedish interior designer based Sligo on the beautiful North West coast of Ireland. Karin grew up in Sweden in a culture which embraces style and unique design characterised by simplicity, minimalism and comfort.


Karin completed a Master’s Degree in Business and Law in Stockholm before she moved to Dublin and initially pursued her career in banking. Having had a successful career in banking and business, Karin decided to pursue her real passion, interior design.

Since establishing ISKA Design she has honed a strong natural aesthetic which complements her minimalist and modern approach to interior design. She draws continually on her Swedish heritage and focuses on natural tones and soft light and believes that simplicity is the best way to make a space relaxed, bright and welcoming.


Karin’s absolute love for design is inherent throughout her life and her passion is contagious. Her home in Sligo has become the embodiment of her vision of how a house can be transformed into a beautiful and welcoming home and has been featured in Image Interiors. Karin is dedicated to creating simplistic and beautiful designs that are client centred. The aim is to always create a unique space for each and every ISKA client.

We engaged Karin while refurbishing our house during the last year ,and found her to have a warm and friendly personality and to be thoroughly professional in her work. She was always willing to liaise with others involved in our project, like the architect, builder and textile /furniture providers ,etc when needed ,and she often had novel ideas to resolve problems that arose, with great results .Nothing was ever too much trouble for her . We found it a pleasure to work with Karin ,and she was always quick to respond to email /WA queries, and while she pushed us out of our comfort zones ,in a gently persuasive way, at times, with some of her suggestions, she always took on board our own ideas/views. Karin has been so wonderful to work with. She exceeded my expectations of what an interior designer would do in every way. She really gets a feel of the room and understands what her client is looking for. The material, textures and colours she uses are beautiful, simplistic and calming. Our room is still a work in progress and I can't wait to complete it fully with the remainder of the furniture and accessories that she has suggested.
